Off The Record is a private and confidential source of help. This means we would only break confidentiality (share personal information about you with anyone outside Off The Record) if we had reason to believe that you or someone else is at serious risk of harm.
We will discuss this with you first unless we believe that to do so could increase the level of risk.
By joining the OTR waiting list, you are agreeing to comply with OTR’s Terms of Service, which are available on our website. Please note:
An assessment appointment plus 6 sessions of counselling with a counsellor. Counselling is a confidential and safe space, with weekly 40-50 minute sessions with the same counsellor each week.
These sessions help you think more clearly, make decisions or changes in your life, or come to terms with difficult experiences, both past and present. Depending on your needs and age, a counsellor may be qualified or a counsellor in training.
This tick box is to register the lead client, who will be our liaison point for family counselling. It is necessary to register all participants of family counselling – we will be in touch to arrange a call to do this once registered.
Family Counselling is for children aged 8 and over, parents, carers, siblings, blended families, and grandparents for up to 6 people. An assessment appointment plus 6 sessions of counselling with a counsellor. Counselling is a confidential and safe space, with weekly 40-50 minute sessions with the same counsellor each week.
These sessions are beneficial for a large variety of issues, including conflicts, relationship breakdowns, issues with family dynamics, strained relationships and significant life events.
An assessment appointment plus a maximum of 6 sessions of counselling with a counsellor. Counselling is a confidential and safe space, with weekly 40-50 minute sessions with the same counsellor each week.
These sessions are to talk about things concerning you about your young person or things that affect you that impact how you support your young person. Depending on your needs, a counsellor may be qualified or a counsellor in training.
Our ‘You First’ insights programme is designed to support parents of adolescents aged between 11 and 25. Sessions are two hours a week for 8 weeks.
It provides a mixture of psychoeducation, coaching, parenting tools, a supportive listening space, and the opportunity to engage with a community of parents with similar lived experiences.
People that have attended have said it was much needed support when trying to parent young people, some of whom have significant mental health difficulties, and have gone on to keep in touch and form their own support networks.
Our ‘Managing Emotions’ 6-week programme covers anxiety, stress, anger, relationships, low mood and self-care. It is a safe place to explore these emotions with a small group of other people who share their feelings, experiences and coping mechanisms. It’s a place to normalise these emotions and let people know that they are not on their own. People that have come to this group before have said it has really helped them, and that it was a relief to feel like they are not alone with how they are feeling.
A Young Carer is someone aged 8 to 18 who physically or emotionally supports a parent, sibling or someone else within their household with a disability, a mental health illness and/or misusing a substance.
The main element of the Young Carers Project is the support club that runs fortnightly, which provides emotional support, coping mechanisms, peer support, disability awareness, some fun and a chance to meet other young people in a similar situation.
In addition to support clubs, young carers run respite trips out so young people can access the local community, which may not be possible to do as a family. We also offer one to one support in time of crises.
Please be aware that by registering your interest through the OTR web portal, a specific Young Carers referral form will be sent to you via email, which will need to be completed by a parent/ teacher or another adult and returned directly via young.carers@otr-south.org.uk
One of the team will then be in touch to organise an assessment of need with your parent of guardian to ensure we can support you.

Please be aware:
If you wish to access counselling, and you are already receiving treatment or support from a mental health practitioner, then counselling may not be suitable for you at this time, as it is often unadvisable to receive different types of therapy at the same time.
If you have already received counselling with us recently then you will not be able to refer back into the counselling service for a period of 6 months from leaving us.
Your answer helps us to understand what services you might need.
